Hotel & Hospitality

Tenera Hotel and Services Suite Bangi with Garden Restaurant

Tenera Hotel

The architectural design for the hotel & serviced apartment is contemporary, blending the symbolic motifs of the oil palm, which is the client's core business. The screens on the building facade resemble oil palm trees and the chosen colour for the main feature of both hotel & serviced apartment buildings uses the Client's corporate colour. The hotel is designed to be a leisure and business hotel by having a banquet hall, meeting rooms, seminar rooms and recreational pools.

The Garden Restaurant adopts the essence of tropical architecture with two parts of the dining areas, indoor & outdoor, which are planned to operate daily. It has the flexibility to be turned into a venue for a garden wedding by having a stage, lounge and complete facilities to cater for such events. There is also a wakaf (gazebo) sited near the restaurant and it shall be a symbolic representation of the local Malay hospitality and cultural aspect.

Royale Bintang Penang

This hotel is situated at Weld Quay, Georgetown. This hotel is a unique blend of the old and new design elements. The 7-storey new hotel building is fronted by a 3 storey conservation building with rich historical artefacts dating back to the last century.

With Unesco's conferring of world heritage town status for Georgetown, Penang in July 2007, the original 12-storey hotel development was put on hold, scaled-down and re-designed to comply with the local authority height control, as part of the key criteria of the Unesco heritage listing for Georgetown, Penang.

The new hotel design language emphasized the common streetscape of the Georgetown area; seeking to merge and blend in with its surrounding neighbours, rather than the previous design approach of a towering block with a lofty vantage point. The hotel is now in operation since March 2014 and our client could not be happier with the outcome of this project; although the commercial viability of this project was in question not too long ago in 2007.

Ease Boutique Hotel Sandakan

This boutique hotel is located at the waterfront promenade of the Sandakan Harbour Square development. The building was originally planned as a 10-unit shop office block but was subsequently adapted into a 138-room boutique hotel to capitalize on its waterfront location.

The architectural design is modern and straightforward, with full-height picture windows for all hotel rooms interspersed with louvred mechanical service areas to create an interesting facade rhythm. The ground floor of the building is kept as open as possible, to serve as the entrance lobbies and F&B areas and to allow easy access from the pedestrian mall to the waterfront promenade.

Glenmarie Golf & Country Club

The Clubhouse complex is conceptualized as a sprawling village-type two-storey structure, with each of the different buildings e.g. Clubhouse, Sports Centre and Tennis Centre individually expressed yet visually tied together by cohesive architectural treatments, and physically linked by verandah ways. Generous soft and hard landscapes are provided to enhance the resort image.

The architectural treatment is derived from the reinterpretation of vernacular tropical architecture resulting in a modern tropical building that fits in comfortably with the surrounding context with a clock tower acting as a point of reference.

The Royal Teluk Rubiah Resort

The Royal Teluk Rubiah Country Club chalets are located at Teluk Rubiah in the district of Manjung, Perak. The chalets are part of an extensive recreational project that is earmarked for the area which includes an 18-hole golf course, driving range and eventually an equestrian park, resort hotel and water sport recreational facilities.

The design for the chalets was inspired by the tropical and vernacular Malay architecture. The main design features for the chalets are the wide roof overhang, spacious verandah and multi-tiered high-pitched roof.

The chalets are also built on stilts as commonly found in the design of the traditional Malay house. Timber is used predominantly for the structure and also as building finishes. The chalet design also incorporated traditional Malay architecture features such as 'buah butong bendol' and 'tumpu kasau' (decorative fascia boards).

Tioman Island Golf Club

The site is located adjacent to the main jetty serving the Tioman Island Resort. It has a backdrop of lush hillside and overlooks the 18th hole of the existing golf course.

The clubhouse is conceptualized as a three-storey L-shaped building hugging the hill backdrop. The entrance lobby is designed as a double-volumed space located at the intersection of the "L-shape", forming the linkage between the two wings.

The architectural treatment of the building is derived from tropical vernacular and traditional Malay architecture, and it fits in comfortably with the surrounding context and existing architecture of the island resort.

Century Mahkota Hotel

Century Mahkota Hotel was conceived as a sprawling complex of serviced apartments and hotel blocks organized around an elongated central landscaped courtyard on an east-west axis with the apartment blocks generally orientated north-south.

The various buildings are visually tied together by facade treatments derived along a Mediterranean theme, with major influence from traditional Malaccan urban buildings.

The central landscaped courtyard serves as the internal focus and activity area of the development and has been extensively landscaped with lush tropical vegetation.
